SCULPTURES BY THE SEA
Brief
Sculptures By the Sea is one of Australia’s largest outdoor annual exhibition and it was first hosted in 1997. Every year thousands of people flock to witness, admire and walk through the coast of Bondi Beach. Local and international artists feature their most renowned works.
We were tasked with creating an exciting and jam packed experience for viewers who wanted to witness the exhibition from a different perspective, virtually. Not everyone could complete the entire stretch, so this experience was aimed at children, elderly or disabled people who could experience the art in 360. Of course, the experience was open to everyone and was completely free.
Creative
Our team was tasked to capture the best of the exhibition and highlights throughout the entire span of the walk. We needed to shoot impactful footage of the outdoor art and create byte-sized content for various channels outside of the VR experience. The team had a small window to shoot the art right from sunrise till early afternoon. My role was to edit, colour-grade and quality control the video that would feature on the experience arena. I was also in charge of the music, social cut-downs and thumbnails.
The project was a huge success as it showcased a different approach to viewing the exhibition and opening up people’e engagement beyond the physical realm. Over 500 people visited the activation. Social content reached 9,819 people; 769 directly engaging.
